Human Sex Trafficking Starts with Grooming Teens, desensitizing them and encouraging them to participate in behaviors that are promoted by traffickers through social media sites. Often young people do not understand how these games and images are created and promoted to them by the trafficking industry. Their parents are equally unaware of how sophisticated, well funded, and powerful the trafficking cartels are. Each year, tens of thousands of girls and boys are captured and forced into sexual slavery.

In one comprehensive study performed in San Diego County, California, the industry does more business than the Port of San Diego, one of the largest seaports in the United States. There are thousands of pimps operating tens of thousands of sex workers, and the industry is growing because there is an ever increasing demand for sex workers. Most of those workers are controlled and forced to perform, many of them starting as young teenagers.

If we are going to stop this abuse, we have to start talking about the issue and educating parents on what to look for.
