If you tuned into last week's episode, (which if you haven't, definitely go listen to that one first HERE) I got to sit down and have an amazing conversation with my brother-in-law, about what it looks like to not only raise awareness but also to take action on that awareness. Something we are both passionate about, something we truly believe is needed, and everyone can do.
So this week, I dove into a specific topic that a lot of awareness is being raised about. I got to sit down with someone who is doing it and has been doing it for years. Blythe Hill is the CEO and Founder of the Dressember Foundation, an anti-trafficking nonprofit organization.
Ending human trafficking has been a hot topic, which I am SO thankful for. My family and I actually just launched a nonprofit to fight human trafficking. (You can see more HERE.) That's why this conversation got me so excited. Blythe and I really dove in to what that looks like.
Specifically for Blythe and her Dressember Foundation, through their annual campaign, thousands of people across the world commit to wearing dresses or ties for the month of December as a way to raise awareness and funding for anti-trafficking work. Since 2013, Dressember advocates have raise $10 Million dollars USD and resourced dozens of anti-trafficking programs across the U.S. and the world. Dressember has received press attention from the likes of Forbes, Glamour, InStyle, Good Housekeeping, Cosmopolitan, the TODAY show, among others. In 2019, Blythe was named one of InStyle's 50 Badass Women, alongside powerhouse ladies like Michelle Obama, Christine Blasey Ford, Angela Davis, and Gayle King. Blythe currently lives in Seattle with her husband, son, and their dog, Friday. She loves a good red wine, a good cheese, and clearly, a good pun.
I absolutely adored this conversation. You get an inside scoop and front row to someone who is actually out on the field fighting this. It's more than just statistics, it's more than just what you see shared over and over, it's an actual person out in the field doing the work and what that looks like. I cannot wait for you to hear this. I hope it inspires you to take action and go for it!
