On the latest episode of Humanity is a Beautiful Thing, I am joined by the Brilliant Dr. Mohammed Enayat, also known as Dr. E. He’s a GP working within the NHS and also the founder of the Hum2n Longevity Clinic, where he specialises in functional, regenerative, and aesthetic medicine. Through this work, Dr. E takes an innovative and alternative approach to help patients truly optimise their internal health and overall well-being.

In this insightful episode, we talk about health, performance, and prevention. Dr. E shares how lifestyle changes, nutrition, micronutrients and building healthier relationships with food can help people regain control of their health and feel empowered in their own healing and journey.

This was one of the most eye opening conversations I have had on the podcast so far. Dr. E was incredibly generous with his knowledge, and his passion for changing how we approach health is truly inspiring. I came away with so many practical takeaways, and I know listeners will too. An absolute must listen, especially for anyone working in healthcare, or just wanting to live with more vitality and intention. 

On the first episode of the year I am joined by Chris Ingate, an old friend, whose journey is one of passion, creating a positive impact on people's mental health  through volunteering. Chris is the co-founder of tech platform, One Another (do good feel good) making human connection and volunteering more accessible. 

One of the quotes that Chris uses is ‘ you help someone else climb a mountain, you too reach the top’ and discusses that the act of volunteering and giving back is the vehicle to creating human connection. Chris discusses Western and Eastern culture, specifically, Ikigai, the Japanese secret to a long and happy life. We also have discussions around creating balance in our lives, thoughts on living in the present moment and embracing the journey, social media and what Chris calls the media diet. I hope this episode gives you new insights and perspectives as it has for me, after my discussion with Chris I commited to planting trees with my good friend, allowing me to give back in a very different way.

Back in September 2021 Hermione shared Deepak Chopra’s 21 Day Abundance Meditation Challenge on her social media and I took part with thousands of other people from Hermione’s community. Hermione talks about the moments that define you and starting that challenge was a defining moment in my personal journey which ended up being the start of one of the most momentous chapters of my life. It felt very special to be able to talk with her, I have always felt so appreciative of her community and what she shares.

Hermione and I have discussions around routines and creating realistic self-practices to help you become the best version of yourself at work but also at home. We discuss happiness, contentedness, the power of saying no, boundaries and how self-awareness is one of the biggest parts of the pursuit. She shares a beautiful thought around how we would like to be remembered, the importance of gratitude and being present in the moment.

Some of my greatest role models, teachers, mentors, and friends are my male nurse colleagues therefore it felt so important to take the time to talk about mens mental health so on todays episode I am thrilled to be joined by Pat Divilly, an author, speaker, transformative breathwork teacher and health and wellness coach who runs programs to support men’s mental health.

I have been following Pat and his career since 2021 and I have always found him so inspiring through the important work that he does but also from openness with his own journey and mental health. Throughout this episode we have discussions about emotional wellness, healing our core wounds, inner child and shadow work so we can meet ourselves with compassion, taking off our masks in order to create a different way of being and the mind body connection. 

As Pat says by being open and connecting to whats true it gives others the permission slip to do that same so I am hoping whoever is listening that this may give them the permission slip they needed and or a place to feel safe and explore and find out more about who they are. I was so excited to talk to Pat and he had so many great and insightful things to say so enjoy the episode.

On today’s episode of Humanity is a Beautiful Thing I am joined by Stephen. In 2018 Stephen’s son Shawn was working and living in Sydney, Australia. On the 29th of July he fell 12 meters off an overpass. He was a major trauma and sustained multiple life-threatening injuries including a traumatic brain injury, pelvic fractures, facial fractures, and skull fractures, amoung others. After spending four months in hospital Shawn made a full recovery. Stephen and I have kept in contact via email since then and I have had the privilege of hearing updates on how Shawn has been over the last five years.  

This conversation with Stephen was so humbling. We discussed the realties and helplessness that can be felt whilst being a family member at the bedside and that amongst the difficult patient presentations and times there are some wonderful stories to.  Even in their worst times they were and continue to be so thankful and grateful for the work we do. I am very thankful and appreciative for this conversation, and I think it was very courageous for Stephen to come on to talk to me about what was such a painful time for him and his family so I hope this episode brings solace, hope and a reminder that your job is recognised, cherished, and valued and you touch and have an impact on people’s lives well beyond their admission.

On the second episode of Humanity is a Beautiful Thing I am joined by Rory Warnock. Rory specialises in breathwork and nervous system regulation using evidence-based breathing tools and techniques to help improve mental and physical health and optimise wellbeing and performance. Rory is an industry-leading performance and wellness coach, ultra endurance and ultramarathon runner, ambassador, and keynote speaker. 

I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation; Rory was so professional yet so easy to talk to. His evidence-based research and breathing tools and techniques are accessible, simple and vital to our health. I hope you learn as much from this episode as I did, and it opens up your mind to appreciating the importance of our breath. 

Rory discusses breathing techniques we can use to upregulate, to bring more energy and alertness into the nervous system, the brain and body and breathing techniques to downregulate, to feel calmer and more relaxed in the moment. He describes how we can use deep breathing proactively and reactively, increasing heart rate variability to give ourselves more nervous system balance, improve our decision making and cognition and living our lives by design rather than by default. As Rory explains throughout the episode breathwork is accessible 24/7 and the more we give attention to our breath, our brain and our body, the happier and healthier we’ll be in the future.
