One person is dead and at least five other people were injured early Sunday morning in a shooting on the campus of Elizabeth City State University, the school announced.

According to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, a shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. on the campus of Elizabeth City State University.

Police in New York City are investigating a shooting in Times Square, a gun-free zone, on Wednesday morning that left one man injured.

Police say they received a 911 call for shots fired at 4:49 a.m. at 47th and 7th Ave. A 29-year-old male was shot in the right arm, and he was transported to Bellevue Hospital conscious and alert. Police have yet to establish a motive for the incident.

The shooting took place after a group of young people got into an argument with several food vendors. The group then disengaged and crossed the street before one of their number turned and fired multiple times at the vendors, striking the 29-year-old in the arm.

Police apprehended three suspects in the nearby subway.

Vancouver police say a car ramming attack at a Filipino heritage festival killed 11 people and injured more than 20 others, updating an earlier death toll of nine. Authorities have ruled out terrorism as a motive, saying the suspect, a 30-year-old Vancouver man who was arrested at the scene, has a history of mental health issues. “We have had substantial contact with him over mental health concerns,” Interim Police Chief Steve Rai said at a news conference. Police said the man was initially detained by bystanders before officers took him into custody. They believe he acted alone, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the deadly incident.

A small plane crashed in upstate New York, killing all six people on board, officials said, coming just days after a helicopter plummeted into the Hudson River.

The Mitsubishi MU-2B was headed to Columbia County Airport in Hudson, New York, when it crashed into an open field near Copake, a small town located about 20 miles southeast of the airport, around 12:15 p.m. local time on April 12, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.

The aircraft went down on Two Town Road near Copake and did not damage any structures, Undersheriff Jacqueline Salvatore said at a news conference.

An executive for U.S. Bank is believed to be the only person on board the plane that crashed into a Brooklyn Park home on Saturday.

A representative with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said that preliminary information shows one person was on the plane.

U.S. Bank shared a statement saying they believe Vice Chair and Chief Administration Officer Terry Dolan died in the crash.

The full statement says, "We are aware of reports that the plane that crashed in Brooklyn Park was registered to Terry Dolan, our vice chair and chief administration officer. At this time, we are unable to confirm whether he was on board, but we believe he was. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and friends, and anyone who may have been affected by yesterday’s tragic incident. We are grateful that there were not any injuries to residents of the home that was impacted by the crash, and we thank all the first responders who have provided service."
