In the days following the events at the Cross, the disciples were at a loss. Jesus, the man they had followed for the last three years, who claimed to be the Son of God, who spoke so differently to the religious leaders of the day about the coming kingdom, had been killed and lay buried in another man's tomb.

But God's redemption plan didn't end on Friday. On that first Easter Sunday, two women went to visit the tomb. But the tomb was empty. And the body was gone. Christ was risen!

It was a day of confusion and uncertainty. Emotions were running high with events teetering on the edge of chaos. Unthinkable violence was carried out in a power struggle that had been going on since the dawn of time. But in the midst of the upheaval, God was at work. The road to Calvary where Jesus was crucified was marked with miracles.

So before rushing to the resurrection, let’s take a moment to slow down and notice how God’s plan played out on Good Friday.

The world is a mess. The mess is a result of sin. The temptation to sin is part of our lives every day. There are many who prefer not to see themselves as “sinners”, rather expressing their wrong attitude or behaviour as, “I made a mistake”, “I’m not perfect”, “I’m only human, or “it’s not really my fault, it’s just the way I am.” There are others that believe that they are okay with God because they live a good life, even better than some Christians they know. There is only one way to deal with sin. That event occurred over 2,000 years ago.
