Join Trenton Honda, PhD, MMS, PA-C, editor-in-chief for the Journal of PA Education, and co-host Carey Barry, MHS, PA-C, chair and associate clinical professor in the Department of Medical Sciences at Northeastern University, as they chat with Joy Hampton, DMSc, MS, PA-C, DFAAPA, about her research on using humor in PA education. The three discuss the different types of humor, specific examples of humor in the classroom, the importance of maintaining professionalism, and how humor invites student engagement. They also talk in-depth about Hampton’s article, “Humor Me: Laughter in Physician Assistant Education,” published in the September 2023 issue of the Journal of Physician Assistant Education.

Dr. Joy Hampton is an assistant professor at the Eastern Virginia Medical School Master of Physician Assistant Program. She's a seasoned PAt with over 20 years of clinical experience spanning various specialties and settings including rural primary care, allergy/asthma, pediatric orthopedics, and pediatric urgent care.
