First Tucker, then the Pope, now CPAC. It’s been a busy few weeks and CPAC is coming up.

Starting with Tucker Carlson, his exit from Fox News - his firing or his resignation - basically their parting of ways, means that the most high visibility voice telling the United States about Hungary, that the country is an exciting success story is no longer on  the air. 

As journalist Alexander Faludy tweeted, “sanctions work.”  Ok, perhaps that’s pushing it a little far, but last week AMerica announced sanctions against the IIB, the International Investment Bank, a Russian institution based in Hungary, as well as 3 executives at the company.  And less than 24 hours later, Hungary had withdrawn from the Bank and the institution is likely to be shuttered.

So the press conference just went down, and after all the excitement of yesterday, when I listed a bunch of possible things David Pressman could say, what actually happened was a comparative letdown...

After a peaceful and happy Easter, news broke this morning - it’s Tuesday April 11th - that the United States Ambassador to Hungary, David Pressman, will be holding a Press Conference tomorrow. While a US Ambassador Press Conference is usually Must miss TV, tomorrows looks, if Hungarian Twitter is correct, to be quite spicy. 

Last weekend saw Orbán give his annual State of the Nation address. He reiterated Hungary's stance on war, inflation, sanctions, ties with Russia, and hinted at the strengthening of Hungarian laws to protect children.

USAID Head Administrator Samantha Power arrives in Budapest. She is here to "start programs" in Hungary to help with democracy, independent media, human rights. Considering how appalling America is doing domestically, Hungary shouldn't accept any advice and interference from a country that has let its citizens down so badly and continues to do so.

Hungary PM Viktor Orbán was noticeably the only European leader not trying to get an autograph from Zelensky in Brussels yesterday. Why the frosty meeting? And how did the Hungarian Twitter-sphere react?
