You know Dunkirk, Midway, Pearl Harbor, and Britain, D-Day, Nanking, Iwo Jima, and Berlin. But do you recall the most strangest WWII battle of all?
In May of 1945 a group of French VIP prisoners enlisted the help of the US Army, defecting German Wehrmacht troops, and a retired SS Captain to protect and defend the Austrian castle that had gone from luxury prison to a besieged fortress under attack from a fanatical group of Waffen SS Nazis. In Episode 6, Greg and Chris talk about the lead up to this battle and all of the major players involved.
