"HOW HUSBANDS SHOULD RESPOND TO BAD WIVES" How should a Christian husband respond when his wife is rebellious or contentious? The Bible presents a path between two dangerous extremes: passive tolerance and sinful cruelty. A husband is commanded to love, nourish, cherish, provide for, and protect his wife. But biblical love does not require him to ignore rebellion or enable destructive behavior. In this message, we examine practical examples throughout Scripture of husbands confronting wrongdoing while continuing to love and seek restoration. A practical Bible study on how a husband can remain loving without becoming passive, exercise headship without becoming cruel, confront wrongdoing without bitterness, and continue seeking the good of his wife even when she is disobedient. This message also examines the general role and responsibilities of a husband in providing for, protecting, cherishing, and rejoicing with the wife of his covenant.

A bride purchases her gown and puts it on for just one day. After, she will change into regular clothes, and her white wedding dress is put away. In the new covenant, the way we see a bride for just one day is the way God sees us every day of our lives in Christ. This is a covenant sealed and consummated forever by the blood of the Great High Priest, Jesus Christ. He has given us a garment of salvation, a robe that is white with the righteousness of Christ. And He is working in us the love and affection suitable for such a bride to such a husband. This covenant will not end in divorce, for it is made effectual by God Himself. So long as we both shall live, He will be our God and we will be His people.

What does it mean to be a fool? According to Scripture, to be a fool is not merely being ignorant of the truth, but it is opposing the wisdom of God. This is why all those that deny that God exists are called fools; they have rejected God's revelation of Himself in His Word and in His creation. In this sermon "The Fool Says in His Heart, "There is No God," from Psalm 14:1 Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones preaches on the folly of rejecting God as Lord and Creator. Scripture tells that God has clearly revealed Himself, and it is only an act of foolish rebellion that leads men and women to deny that God exists and has created all things. God has given evidence that He exists in all of creation, from the stars above to human consciousness. The greatest tragedy of the fool is not only that they have rejected God as their creator, but that they have also rejected God as their savior. Jesus Christ is God's only appointed means of salvation; to reject Him is to reject God's love and grace. The ultimate answer to human rebellion is the sovereign electing grace of God for it is only God's grace that can overcome sin.
