  • Sinning Against the Holy Spirit
Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2 With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles' feet. 3 Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4 Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God." 5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. 6 Then some young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him. 7 About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 Peter asked her, "Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?" "Yes," she said, "that is the price." 9 Peter said to her, "How could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also." 10 At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

  • Threats to the Home
The sermon explores the divine design for marriage as a holy covenant intended to withstand spiritual attacks from Satan. Drawing from Genesis and Ephesians, it outlines specific roles where husbands are called to provide, protect, and lead sacrificially, while wives are instructed to show respect and submission. Brother Gleiser emphasizes that healthy homes require intentional effort, mutual affection, and communication to counteract cultural pressures and personal flaws. By adopting these biblical principles, families can create a spiritual environment that honors God and influences future generations. Ultimately, the message urges believers to prioritize their marriages as foundational to the health and revival of the church.

  • Submission to Christ in Marriage
In this sermon from 1 Peter 3, Dylan Joyner explains God's instructions for wives and husbands within the marriage covenant. This passage continues Peter's broader teaching that Christians should humbly submit to the authorities God has placed over them, not merely to preserve personal comfort, but to follow the example of Christ and glorify His name. Christian wives are called to submit to their own husbands, displaying respectful, pure, and Christlike conduct. This submission does not require obeying commands that would dishonor God, because every Christian's highest allegiance belongs to the Lord. Peter also addresses wives with unbelieving husbands, showing how godly conduct can support their verbal witness and demonstrate the transforming power of the gospel. Christian women are encouraged to pursue the imperishable beauty of the heart rather than making outward appearance their primary concern. Their lives should be marked by spiritual purity, reverence for God, humility, meekness, self-control, and a gentle and quiet spirit. Husbands are commanded to live with their wives in an understanding way and to show them honor. They must use their God-given strength to protect, provide for, gently serve, and sacrificially love their wives. Christian husbands must also remember that their wives are fellow heirs of eternal life, and that God will hold them accountable for how they treat His daughters.

  • Certain Women with Him
Jesus travels with a group of women, both single and married, some of whom have extremely sketchy pasts — and these women financially support Him and the apostles. You don't need to know too much about human nature to say that such a situation is not exactly kosher. You don't need me to tell you that if a visiting preacher comes to this church accompanied by a suite of female followers, some of them married women traveling without their husbands, all of them bankrolling his lifestyle, he will be ridden out of here on a rail. And rightly so. We do not accept or allow this kind of thing in our church, for very good reasons. So why on earth does Luke record it for us here? You can't say he mentions it because it happened. Sure it happened. But Matthew, Mark, and John found a way to leave it out. I'm emphasizing the bizarre, seemingly non-kosher nature of this passage, a passage which raises more questions even last week's sinful city woman, because I want to make you really look at the text. What is Luke saying? Obviously he is not hinting that Jesus and the apostles are doing anything inappropriate. He is not suggesting that Jesus was an early version of Joseph Smith, or a late version of Solomon. Clearly that's not why Luke puts this summary here. Though from one perspective this is a giant red flag, almost as big as Judas' betrayal, from another perspective, this story reinforces our confidence in Jesus. It strengthens our faith when we understand what's really going on, which is this: those who have been transformed by Jesus remain with Him in ministry.
