It’s the weekend – and that means the Action Pack are here to look back at their week in TV! Kicking things off with a look at the newest news from Disney+ – namely the fact that Disney+ is subtracting a ton of content from across several platforms. With content departing, that means rights and residuals disappear as well, which of course means talking Writer’s Strike. The guys voice support of the WGA and hope for a promising resolution – and in the meantime, they talk unscripted. Drag Me To Dinner kicked off with a heavy drop, and the guys definitely heard the thud. Then, look at TWO episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars Season 8 before getting mad stoked for Daddy Tyler Florence’s debut on MAX with the newest season of The Great Food Truck Road Race! All this and more on an all-new X is for Show!
SECRET LOCHOMANIA (Secret Invasion, Loki, Echo, Quantumania)! What is it? It’s a bunch of Marvel Magic is what it is. With these Disney Plus titles have all been making headlines recently, we’ll be taking a look at what we know, what we think we know, and what we hope we know from these Marvel Studios streaming shows. Join Nico, TK, and Kevo in the first half as they give their reaction to Disney+’s latest Marvel Studios drop, Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, then come on back for the second half as they discuss the upcoming Secret Invasion as well as the officially announced Loki and Echo.
In this week’s edition of our TV Roundup, the Action Pack is going even wider with our ever-expanding coverage. While we’re still keeping pretty queer with a check-in on the current season of Drag Race All Stars, we’ll also be checking out the first episodes of new streaming series Muppets Mayhem and Silo. Do these shows have anything in common? Probably not! But if anyone can find a connective thread, it’s probably us! The magic of loving TV is finding the threads that work for you. And these work for us! So join in, watch along, and join in on the mayhem!
One of our favorite segments, BRACKETEERING, pits subjects against each other in a bracket fight to see who comes out on top. In this installment, we take some of the biggest film franchises ever produced to ask some of the most random questions we can think of. Which would make a better prom theme, James Bond or Godzilla? Which is a better Mother’s Day film, Alien or Psycho? Who would be a better babysitter, Batman or Shrek? These hyper-random hypotheticals (or Hyper-Rando Hypos) often produce the most interesting answers, so come along as we first decipher what the hell each question is and then how to even answer it! It’s a good time.
As X Is For Show evolves, so does the programming – and the format does, too. The Action Pack watches a LOT of real real queer reality TV. And now they’re gonna talk about it! This week on Queer AF Reality TV Round-Up, the guys talk Eurovision 2023, Drag Race All Stars Season 8 Episodes 1-2 (and Untucked – duh!), and lastly, join Nico & Kevo for what is a lifetime dream come true – PROJECT RUNWAY SEASON 20 ALL STARS’s kickoff! Kara Saun, Rami, & Hester?! Come on, this is it. Pull up, watch along, and tune to an all-new Queer AF Reality TV Round-Up with Eurovision, Drag Race All Stars, & Project Runway! on XI4S!
Zelda. Link. Gannon. The Holy Tri-Force of Nintendo are having a big moment with the release of The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, the sequel to the series redefining Breath Of The Wild. Time for the Action Pack to discuss first impressions of the new game, how the latest entry in the series fits into the eras of Zelda, and how this game could change the Zelda timeline. From novice to expert, the Action Pack talk about how Zelda has been a part of their lives, as active players of the franchise or not, and what the future could hold for the Tri-Force Trinity!
After nearly a decade of cosmic capers and stellar shenanigans, it's time for the Guardians' goodbye. It’s crossed three titular films, several cameos throughout other Marvel titles, a Holiday Special, two theme park rides, and countless comic relaunches in between (oh, and the its-better-than-Avengers-RPG). Join the Action Pack as we review the highs and lows of their contributions, and speculate on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe In Space and say goodbye to the most unlikely family in the MCU.
What is a “Final Fantasy”? And if it’s so double-effing-final, how are there 15 … plus like 100 more?! This week, the Action Pack breaks down Nico’s all-time favorite video game series to celebrate the landmark sales of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters & Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line and their emergence onto the PS4 & Switch! The team cover Final Fantasy I-VI in their MANY iterations - the characters, the stories, THE SUMMONS, OBVIOUSLY; and then get ready to DANCE with Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line, the most recent in a series of rhythm games taking the characters from the Final Fantasy Universes and giving them the SMB3 Intro treatment - celebrating the worldwide phenomenon that is FF music (and the music of the greater Square Enix company)!
From the archives! Back in April, when the award season controversies were still on the far horizon, the Action Pack brought in member Tori to discuss the Tony Award nominations. Join the Action Pack as they examine both the original musical nominees (& Juliet, Almost Famous, Bad Cinderella, A Beautiful Noise, Kimberly Akimbo, KPOP, New York, New York, Shucked, Some Like It Hot) as well as the musical revival nominees (1776, Bob Fosse's Dancin', Camelot, Into the Woods, Parade, & Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street)! We took a look at both previous and nominable productions, talking about history and more, as well as adding our usual amount of fun and games!
The eternal question: Star Trek or Star Wars? Some of us pick both, and that definitely goes for us at X Is For Show! It’s certainly an exciting week for geekdom when the finales of these two franchises’ biggest shows fall back to back, and the Action Pack can’t wait to bring you our take! Now, the guys were away and enjoying an incredible shore weekend but that didn’t stop them from broadcasting live from Asbury Park!
