The worst year in the companies history was in 2004, we will discuss all the poor decisions that led up to then and where they went wrong. The company that went all out for marketing, usually being sued or stopped by the government each time, finally closes its doors. Whether you played Turok, Virtua Tennis, or Shadow Man--you can't help but be shocked at all the marketing techniques attempted by one company. They changed their look over the years and it has become a lot more casual but the food is not as good as it used to be. Alright, I know that I was going to talk about marketing failures. But this is a completely personal topic, I've lost friends because of this brand. I'll explain in the show, also I will watch one of the first commercials for Axe Body Spray after it was launched in the United States in 2002. The company did well and the controversy was not a failure, however one could say it was innapropriate and would not survive in todays world. This was supposed to be the biggest contribution humans have made to society since the invention of the internet! Everyone was hyped for something they knew nothing about and I literally mean nothing about--no one knew what it was or even what it pertained to. Speculation included hydrogen cars or anti gravity magnetic vehicles, then all they got was a lazy bicycle that couldn't fit in places that a normal bicycle could fit. This was the future of urban travel, but cities already had problems with bikes, let alone a bike that barely fits through a doorway. With the company owning over 43% of market share in the global sportswear segment, this is a what you would consider a Goliath brand--but one mistake could bring the giant to its knees.
