We all know Patrick Mahomes II. The one-man show on turf so electrifying that we talk about him with the same reverence basketball fans do about Steph Curry. The man who creates sheer moments of "what did he just do" fairly regularly. We also know Deshaun Watson (perhaps lately for all the wrong reasons), mostly as a victim of terrible team management but also a very good quarterback. We also know Mitch Turbinsky as... well, we know Mitch. For this episode, we shuffle up the 2017 NFL draft and see what happens.

Shootaround: The NFL Draft is coming up... Surprise. We talk a little bit about one of the most unanimous prospects we've seen in years; Sam makes a case for Chris Paul as MVP (not Serge surprisingly). 

Derrick Rose simply exploded onto the scene his rookie year and didn't stop. He was a menace. He was a destructive presence in the best possible way. He was the tip of the re-emerging Chicago Bulls spear. The hope to challenge the Miami Heat dynasty emerging at the same time. But then, he tore his ACL. And while the Rose fandom has had a resurgence, we've consistently been left to wander as to what more he had to give had he stayed healthy. So, here we are, revisiting this.

Shootaround: Serge breaks down the 48 hour fiasco that was the Super League; the NBA MVP race seems to have clear winner, but Steph Curry is sure making it hard to call it just yet. 

The NBA has had a lot of changes as to how they develop their talent. In the past, they bucked under NCAA, to introduce the one-and-done rule. But is anything the NBA doing actually in the best interest of its young talent? What needs change? What is working? How can we take care of promising young players without the NCAA, or can we even?

Shootaround: The NCAA is done and none of your brackets were good. Will the MLB see repercussions of the Texas 40,000 home opener? Is Julian Edelman a HOFer? 

The NBA has changed. Some for the best, some depends on who you ask. Serge once again takes out his soapbox and talks about the "three-point revolution," and the corner three in particular. How did it impact the game? How do the analytics? The NBA has been one of the most active sports when it comes to introducing changes. And so here we are, talking about how the game has changed.

Shootaround: The NBA trade deadline has come and gone and Kyle Lowry is still a Raptor. The MLB is coming back and they have some lofty attendance goals. 

It's not what you think. Rather than think up scenarios for where players can go, we talk through the entire premise of a trade deadline. We offer some alternatives, explore how other leagues do it and briefly imagine a world without a trade deadline.

Shootaround: The NBA is facing an injury crisis, which means they maybe haven't planned all that well for the restart. Joe Flacco joins the Eagles which means Serge is sad. 

The "how would this player do in the 90s" debate is as old as  time (or at least as the 90s). It's the favourite pastime of NBA Twitter sometimes so we figured we'd get in on the fun. Serge and Sam pick a few players from both past and present and try to theorize how they would fit into a different era. Fair warning to Trae Young fans, you may not enjoy this.

Shootaround: Covid hair is a thing now. We're hoping for illegal haircuts soon. The NBA Trade Deadline may be a snooze. Bill Belichick acquires every single TE we have. 

Two of the best power forwards of all time have to be mentioned in the same breath. While Tim Duncan was the cornerstone of a Spurs Dynasty, Garnett had to oversee a meddling Minnesota team before eventually shipping out to Boston to get his Championship recognition. But what if they switched places? It is truly a wacky question to look at, assess the legacy and impact of both and explore. A little bit of a different vibe this episode.

They made the NBA Finals and the Eastern Conference Finals after that. The future seemed bright, until Shaq left Orlando for the star power of Los Angeles. But what if Shaq chose to stay and build on what he had with the young co-star in Penny? Would Penny's knees hold up? Would they dethrone the Bulls or simply be the next in line? It's one NBA's biggest what ifs.

Shootaround: The Raptors are down to bare bones due to Covid, but the NBA is still letting fans in the Arena. Trae Young tries to force Atlanta's hand. Sam has admits to never seeing White Men Can't Jump. 

Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki were the best of friends and the best of teammates. But in the summer of 2004, the owner of the Mavericks Mark Cuban decided that he'd rather spend money on Erick Dampier and continue paying Antoine Walker than resign Steve Nash. The rest is history. Nash and Nowitzki, both won MVPs (some deserved, some not so much) and stamped their mark on the game of basketball. Dirk even managed to squeeze out a championship when Rick Carlisle bamboozled one of the greatest NBA teams ever assembled with a 2-3 zone. But what if they ended up playing together? Would their unique combination of talents be as effective on the same team? 

Shootaround: We have some feelings about the NBA All-Star reserve selection. 

Okay, it's not that far-fetched to imagine a world where the U.S. didn't shut down in the face of a global pandemic and choosing to go on "life as usual"... So it's not really THAT hard to imagine the NBA just going on if Rudy Gobert doesn't get Covid early into the pandemic. We'd like to imagine a world without Covid however, where the NBA would go on through last season to its rightful conclusion. What changed? What teams benefited? Which teams suffered? Did it impact the current NBA season? Let's dive in.
