What if the wounds we trace back to our mother and father were never fully theirs to begin with?
In this episode, Coach Afi G explores two of the most primal forces that shape every human life: the mother principle and the father principle. Rather than treating them as simply the people who raised us, he approaches them as energies we each carry within: one that governs our sense of safety, center, and the capacity to love; the other that governs our sense of direction, footing, and reassurance in the world.
Afi G opens up about his own experience being raised in a single-parent home, and moves through vivid examples of how these wounds quietly shape adult lives: from the difficulty of feeling safe, to the struggle to feel sure. But the heart of this episode is a challenging and compassionate reframe: the invitation to widen the lens beyond blame, to understand the histories that shaped our parents, and to recognize the ancestral pattern seeking to be healed in our own lifetime.
This is a conversation about responsibility rather than condemnation, and about what becomes possible when we understand ourselves not as those chosen by the wound to suffer, but as those positioned by the lineage to heal.
A note on depth: this episode names and illuminates these wounds. The deep, guided healing of them is the work Afi G leads inside the Shadow & Lineage Healing Circle.
