God’s favor is not always something we earn—and it does not always appear in the way we expect.
In this lesson, I explore three different expressions of undeserved favor through the biblical stories of Cain, Joseph, and Mephibosheth. Cain’s story shows us mercy in the middle of deserved consequences. Joseph’s journey reveals God’s presence and preservation through betrayal, rejection, waiting, and hardship. Mephibosheth’s life demonstrates restoration, belonging, and receiving a place at the king’s table that he could never have earned for himself.
I also reflect on moments from my own life when God protected me, carried me through difficult seasons, corrected me after my mistakes, and opened doors I could not have opened on my own.
God’s favor does not mean we will never experience consequences, hardship, or delay. Sometimes favor looks like mercy when we are wrong. Sometimes it looks like God sustaining us when life is unfair. And sometimes it looks like being welcomed into opportunities and blessings we know we did not earn.
No matter where you are in your journey, your mistakes do not place you beyond God’s mercy, your difficult season does not mean He has abandoned you, and your circumstances do not prevent Him from calling you into something greater.
