This Sunday we kick off a new five-week series, Not According to Plan. Most people have relationships that are broken, and you’d say, “It wasn’t what I planned.” When life doesn’t go as planned, what do you do? How does Jesus interact with people who feel too broken to worship or follow Him? You come as you are, with all your stuff.
We will work through the story and see how powerful the interaction is and how it helps us handle our own spiritual messes. We will find that this unnamed woman finds healing from the person she needs the most while hiding from the people who have hurt her the most. She is physically, spiritually, and emotionally spent, and Jesus makes one-on-one time just for her. He teaches her about true worship—what it is, what it is not, and what she is actually in need of.
Worship is war for most because of our sin and the choices we’ve made. We don’t feel worthy enough to worship. As we kick off this series, we’re going to talk about brokenness before we talk about standards. This is easily one of Jesus’ most well-known teachings on worship and the type of people Jesus made time for. No matter where you find yourself, even if life is not as you planned, Jesus has a plan to meet with you.
