Chip Fudge an OKC based entrepreneur who loves cars tells us his success story and how they leads into him racing historic cars around the world. Chip has a wonderful car collection. Chip has raced at Leguna Seca during Monterey Car Week, GP Ice Race in Austria and he races his Shelby GT350 in Mexico most years. On this episode I chatted with Welshman, friend and creator of Green Over Tan, Elliot Newton. I've known Elliot for over 10 years now and he has always had an eye for classic cars, fashion and photography. Elliots passions led to study photography at uni, then on to work at Dick Lovett as a content creator. Yes, Dick Lovett is the name of a dealership group in the UK. At DL whilst photographing cars and creating dealership content, he created a page to fully express his creativeness. That page took OFF! Putting Elliot on the radar of Classic Drivers editor. Surprise! He now works as a staff writer. Elliot tells us all about his journey through cars, his love for classics, photography and storytelling. Ultimately leading to the future of Green Over Tan all while telling some insane stories along the way. My favorite one is him being a guest of Bugatti, on a classic rally through the alps, riding shotgun and handing out Italian pace notes to his driver trying to navigate wet alpine switchbacks in a pre war Bugatti. Worth a lot more than he would ever want to know. Not to mention at the end of it getting a top speed run with Andy Wallace in a Chiron. 

Although Classic Driver has taken up most of Elliots time as his full time job, he has still found time for Green Over Tan. Curating some of the greatest automobiles, clothing wear and architecture all centered around the iconic color combination. Elliot tells us about one of his most recent collaborations with BMW USA off the back of their collar with Kith... 

Mark my words. There are big things coming from Green Over Tan in the next 10 years.

On this episode I drove upon to Guthrie Oklahoma in a banana yellow 2016 Porsche Boxter Spyder to see my friend Dustin Sallee. Dustin owns Daddy's Dent and Ding. (Yes he has two girls who named his business a long time a go) Dustin has had a passion for cars since childhood. He tells stories about seeing his uncle working on cars, going straight into it himself instead of going to university. Starting to work for a body shop and one day seeing the pointless dent reposer guys come through town following hail storms. Lightbulb moment, he learned how to do it and then decided to open up his own shop. Dustin's shop is a treasure trove of car memorabilia, vintage items, gas pumps and a whole lot of Hotwheels cars! As well as his 993 Porsche Carrera Cab and project car a Landrover Defender 90. Dustin is a huge fan of Porsche and takes his car to as many events as he can go to. One of those this year was Porsche Palooza in Arkansas with 5 other cars from OKC. It Snowed... A 918 and Carrera GT showed up! WOW. Lots to learn and laugh about in this great episode with my friend Dustin.

Hannah told us she's not a car person, but stumbled into writing about them. Growing up in Oregon in a very active family. Athletics was her childhood and she studied Journalism at Baylor University in Texas as a student athlete running track. Hannah left Texas and headed straight for NYC to chase her journalism dream. Growing up Hannah was fascinated with reading and writing and always wanted it to be her profession. With the help of some mentors she stumbled into the car world and tells us about the first time she was given the opportunity to drive a "supercar" A Lamborghini Aventador at Pebble Beach. I had another pinch me moment for the podcast. Sam Moore’s an automotive photographer based in London UK. He’s been on Gumball many times, Team Galag Snow Tour three times and many many other road trips. Sam also has a car podcast called “Car Chat” where he’s done over 50 interviews with the world’s best content creators and automotive journalists in the world. Sam’s podcast is a huge inspiration to me and his photography is awesome. @sammooresphoto

So to have Sam on our Random Car Guys podcast was a milestone for sure. One of Sam’s cars is quite well know in the world’s automotive community. Often referred to as F40 BLU. The only Ferrari F40 in navy (something) blue. It’s INCREDIBLE and there are a few amazing videos of him ripping around town in it.

Sam’s story is pretty cool. He went to school with Tim Burton (SHMEE150) they then spent time in New Zealand as ski instructors. As Tim started to grow his social media and car journalism he invited Sam to the events to take photos. Sam’s love of photography grew and grew and soon he became one of the best at high-end car photography. Allowing him to go on trips like GUMBALL 3000 as a content creator, which opened the doors to many other gigs, events, and person photo-shoots for car owners.

Most likely if you own an exotic sport scar you want to have great photos to go with it. As well as the higher end dealerships that market their cars online. With the growth of social media, and more people buying cars site unseen off the Internet. Photography is how those cars are being sold.

Sam also got into racing; he bought a Radical SR1 and decided to get his race license. He shared some great stories. He’s had two pretty big shunts, which he dives into how and why they happened and then also talks about his future car buying ideas. His current line up is: daily driver Audi RS4, Porsche 70’s resto mod, Porsche 997.2 GT3RS, Radical Race Car and Ferrari F40. He’s looking to trade the GT3 RS for a GT3 Touring. Great choice in my eyes, both amazing cars but the touring is definitely more usable.

Had a great time interviewing someone who I look up to for content ideas, podcasting and general cool car stuff. It was really nice to chat with a genuine human being for over an hour about cars. Goes to show that nobody is hard to reach, you’ve just got to keep following up until they reply.
