Stephen Miller, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for policy, has been widely criticized for claiming he knows the thinking of Black people in Chicago. In an interview on October 7, 2025, Miller asserted that Black Chicago residents were "thrilled" with federal immigration enforcement actions, suggesting they believed undocumented immigrants were "stealing their housing, jobs, and resources". Critics, including Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, rejected Miller's remarks as a misleading and harmful portrayal of the community.
