  • Ep8 - Controversial Opinions

CONTENT WARNING - This ep contains discussions about suicide and death.

We're discussing controversial opinions! Here's some potentially odd things we think:

    - If you still hang out with the same group of friends that you've had since high school, I'm doubting your emotional growth

    - A formal education should not be a requirement for most jobs

    - Euthanasia should be available for suicide

    - I'm not proud to be Australian

Woah - that's sounds so harsh without all the extra explanations that go with them. You better go have a listen!

  • Ep7 - Neurotypical vs Neurodivergent, Dating Edition

    We have our first guest!

Welcome to Courtney - Sam's soon to be wife. In this episode we talk about what it's like as a neurotypical person dating a neurodivergent person.

What are the differences that you notice? What are the things that drive you mad? Which traits do you wish you had? How do you complement each other?

In the spirit of keeping it real, we had a mid pod f*ck up, when Sam's alarm went off. Decided to keep it in because that's authenticity baby!

  • Ep6 - When is Trauma Big Enough to be called Trauma?

Comparative suffering is defined by leading shame researcher and author Brene Brown as "ranking our suffering against that of others, which is then used to either deny or give ourselves permission to feel".

Do you deny yourself permission to feel (and heal), by dismissing your own experiences of suffering as "not that bad?".

Are you fearful of feeling like a victim?

This is a long one. We challenge ourselves and each other and have no doubt this ongoing conversation will continue to expand our hearts and minds, and maybe yours too.

  • Ep5 - What's the Danger of a Diagnosis?

We would really like to know... what is the fear around the rhetoric of 'too many people getting diagnosed these days'?

Neurodivergence is on the up! Or at least it seems so.

We discuss our thoughts on why we think we're seeing an increase, the place of the TikTok therapist and the choice to medicate.

Spoiler alert (but an obvious one): we are all for knowing yourself better. And if a diagnosis helps people do it, then that's good with us.

  • Ep4 - Embracing the Duality of Life

Giving ourselves permission to feel ALL of our feelings, can be HARD!

As human beings, we contain multitudes. In any given moment, we may be experiencing high highs, low lows, and sometimes, our circumstances place us in the midst of both ends of the spectrum at the same time.

Without the intentional decision to 'feel it all', we can quickly find ourselves in a state of being all consumed by one BIG emotion, and often this is found to be harmful and self limiting.

The overall message - we are complicated and that's okay! We remind ourselves we don't need to perform for anyone.

  • Ep3 - Late to Lesbian

Sharing our experiences within the colloquially termed “Post Covid Late to Lesbian Epidemic”.

From accidentally straight to mindfully and intentionally Queer.

Sam - “Everybody is a little bit gay”

Jess - “I try to understand straight people”

  • Ep2 - Thoughts from the Messy Middle of Parenting

Every parent, every child, is experiencing their journey of life in their own unique capacity. Even within family units, each parent is an evolving person, and each child is a unique being. The journey is shared, yet the experience is unique to all.

We discuss the challenges, acknowledge and reject the expectations and assumptions that too often come with the positions of ‘parent’ and ‘child’, and give grace to both as we fumble our way through, in the best way we know how.

Not a sermon offering advice, answers or certainty! We’re simply here wading through the journey with you, unpacking the process along the way.

  • Ep1 - We Made A Podcast!

We finally did it - we made a podcast!

In this episode we discuss the generational divide on opinions of emerging awareness of neurodivergence, why labels are helpful sometimes and what if we're all just actually super evolved!?

In true Sam and Jess fashion, we went rogue - no rough drafts x
