My guest Roz is a regular blood donor, a living kidney donor, and on the bone marrow registry. She was recognized at a regional award ceremony for her 100th donation, flown to Ottawa for a weekend of recognition for organizing ~40 workplace group blood donations, and personally donated whole blood 115 times to date.

She lived in Ontario for 24 years before returning to her home province of New Brunswick, Canada where she was born and raised. She has been working for a loyalty currency reward company for almost 17 years, 4 years remotely.

My guest, Marcus Hayle, shares his story about being married to someone he didn’t know was manipulative and abusive – which he only discovered years into their marriage. You will hear his story about getting arrested unexpectedly and without cause, and what he did to rebuild his life afterwards.

Professionally he is a Pricing & Revenue Management Consultant with 21 years of experience gained working with 4 global airlines, 1 global airport and a leading tech giant. He dabbles in multiple passions, he is also a commercial pilot, a financial coach, tax and business strategist and real estate investor. He also serves as a leader and mentor with his church, volunteers on community boards and is a huge advocate for social change and giving back to the community, hence the conversation today. 

He enjoys the outdoors, traveling, flying, biking, the beach, good food, music, learning about different cultures,  people and their stories.

So you are getting a combo story today!  A two for one deal if you will !    First we’re talking about women's health and Jo-ann getting a hysterectomy at a fairly young age. She suffered from very painful menstrual cycles from a young age and so when the opportunity to have a hysterectomy was presented, she jumped at it!  Which leads to the bonus story of her life as a childfree person and why she had no problem removing her uterus and never becoming a mom. 

Jo-Ann Martin, a proud Canadian with strong Jamaican roots. For the last 18 years, she has worked as a Sign Language Interpreter providing communication access to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community at large. The bulk of her childhood was spent in a dance studio and her passion for health and fitness today is a direct result of many years on the competitive dance stage. In addition, she manages her own online business in the health and wellness industry.

Jo-Ann is a daughter, sister, friend and the BEST Auntie ever- but don’t call her “mom”! This fierce childfree advocate is always ready to challenge society’s assumption of the “role a woman is supposed to play”.
