Sex at Every Size

I Like Bread But I Also Like Cheese

Listen Later

We’re talking about c-section scars in Sports Illustrated this week. We had a discussion on the importance of representation for all different kinds of bodies in the media.

Our listener question this week is about insecurity in sexual relationships. We go into the differences in individual sexuality and partnered sexuality. We give some ideas about how to communicate feelings of insecurity without making accusations. We also touch on the concepts of attraction and the role of porn in sexuality. Then we talk about the barriers that can be involved with insecurities and contribute to low desire for partnered sex.

Cassie’s win this week is the book Fat & Queer being awarded the “Book for General Audiences” recognition for 2022 from the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists.

Episode highlights:

“Was the interpreter my mother-in-law?”

“I learned to shave without looking, bitch.”

“She doesn’t even have the pooch!”

“Having a baby isn’t an achievement.”

“If we could just stop promoting this one kind of body as the ideal for sexuality, that would be great.”

“I don’t think it’s going to leave people being like, ‘wow that’s what I might look like if I have a c-section one day’.”

“I am having a genital response to this, and I never want to watch this again.”

“I need the weird.”

“Why do you have to have boundaries!?”

“I know that I am in the wrong right now, but–”

“He doesn’t just have eyeballs when he’s staring at his phone.”

“I like bread, but I also like cheese”

“We don’t always need things to be fixed, sometimes you just need validation.”
