Episode 252: I lived in three different towns during this episode! In this episode, Dan and Josh are joined by the well-traveled Twin Cities comic Laura Bellini, who talks about how hard it was coming back from COVID. Not the disease, but the reality of having not done stand-up comedy for over a year before bombing hard. Her tight 10 was so tight, she did it in 5 minutes, and performed most of her act after saying “Thanks everybody, I’m Laura Bellini - have a great night!”. Laura had a feeling that all comics have after a set that goes way off the rails: “whoa, I’m really bad at this”.
Thankfully, Laura isn’t bad at this - not only is she fantastic, but she’s also got a lot to share: trusting what you have to say, keeping the writing pipeline full, and making sure material is tested. Laura expresses how important it is to keep things in perspective: have a goal when you perform, so the ups and downs have context for building your greater mission as a comic. She and the guys also talk about how much more there is to comedy outside of having good jokes. Please rate and review
