August 19, 2019Halftime Talks: Offering the Invitation"You can lead a horse to water but you can't force them to drink." How many times have we offered sound insights and wisdom to others only for them to step right over it without even slightly pretending to heed it? In a world where you can read "I told you so" easily unspoken on the face of others there must be an alternative that allows us to maintain our balance. The nature of our individual growth and development curates different levels of receptivity to information. We've been the horse at the watering hole at many points of our life too. There is an unbreakable cycle to growth that cannot be bucked or skipped. Upon feeling a recent storm of attachment to someone hear me, I decided to opt out of that previous dynamic altogether. I instead began to devise a new approach. What if I conceptualize my words and actions as an invitation? To go further down the path with me will require you to first respond to the invitation. The invitation is like a trailer selling the movie that. The invitation is not a hard sell or bid to get a fill engagement or commitment. It is only mean to stimulate interest to get you to come on your own terms. In this episode we explore the idea of offering an invitation for understanding. Enjoy....more13minPlay
May 07, 2019Halftime Talks: The Power of AppreciationNot a day goes by that I don't set aside some time to enter in the mode of mindfulness. Often one of the practices that I focus my energies into is appreciation. It's fascinating to pour your attention into appreciation unconditionally. Unconditionally in that we are not trying to coax the wheels of life to roll in our directions but merely for the satisfying feeling of focusing. Appreciating deliberately has benefits that while intangible we can feel them working on us at the depths of our core. In this episode I go into more detail around my methodology around appreciation. I'd prescribe it to people for 6 weeks if I could. Over time you would be hooked and it would become second nature. Enjoy the episode....more10minPlay

April 30, 2019Halftime Talks: Releasing my ContemptYouth comes with an embedded sense of naive assumption of the world. Time has within it a beautiful component which allows the evolving of perspectives along with a growing compassion of understanding. This inability to reconcile the expectations fostered a high degree of contempt for both people and institutions. The next logical shift in evolution required me to release my contempt. In this episode we chart this journey and share perspectives in managing this stage of development....more12minPlay
