Hello, Shreveport, and Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a champion of equality, justice, and unity. His dream continues to inspire us to work together for a better, more inclusive future for all citizens. 

Did you know that Shreveport was apart of Dr. King’s story? City officials recently came together to honor Dr. King at the Old Galilee Baptist Church, where Dr. King gave an impactful speech in 1958. 

Let us reflect on Dr. King’s message of love and service, and a commitment to building a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
