I miss the sounds

Listen Later

I miss the sounds

Every year in the summer since

Jack got back

Put the Pabst in the cooler

with plenty of ice pack

Head to the park to join up

with the crew

Everyone together man we were

a real zoo

Meeting up with my cousins

and we joking

Wander off away from the

grown ups toking

Kings for the day we were strolling the

grounds

Could hear our folks

laughing, God I miss the sounds

The laughter, the love, the combination

of different food

Table to table sampling

dishes, everyone in a happy mood

Card games dealt out on

picnic tables in the shade

Drinks and cigarettes, can’t

remember what was played

Pinochle or sheepshead, pass

the bottle to Jim, Jack

Marcia and Dorothy laughing, give

anything to have it back

Kathleen gave me words of

wisdom, Bettie winked and gave me a nod

Nell’s kids were really

something, I mention them when I talk to God

Ask him to drop in on them

when he’s making his rounds

Or bring them back if you

want, cause God I miss the sounds
