All of us who are trying to run a successful business need to learn how to crush anxiety. It's the thing that adds pressure to life and pushes us to make bad business decisions. It leads us into the situations none of us want - marriage crisis, financial indecision, fear, bad judgment, even physical illness. Yes, all of those come from anxiety.
I used to get whacked out by anxiety. It was a bad habit that plagued me more than I care to admit. I still experience the feeling of anxiety, but I don't settle for letting it get the upper hand. I take it on, I crush anxiety before it has a chance to derail my day. This episode explains how I am learning to handle anxiety before it handles me.
Who is in charge of your life? You? If so, you have a problemThe first thing I've had to learn is that when I am in control of my life, I have a big problem. That sounds counterintuitive because our culture teaches us to take control, to be the one who determines our own destiny. But that's a mindset born entirely out of a combination of ego and honestly, delusion.
We are not ABLE to control our own lives. If you don't believe me, just look at all the things that COULD happen in your life that you have no way of preventing. Car accidents, illness, natural disasters, economic downturns, partners or investors abandoning you or betraying you. You are not in control of those things - thus, your life is not something you are able to control. Do you see my point?
The ability to crush anxiety is a real business strategyYou may be wondering why I want to talk about crushing anxiety... what does it have to do with the Phenom Investor Blueprint, or business? Dealing effectively with anxiety is one of the most important components of every business strategy because when we are able to do it, we are able to think more clearly, be more effective, and live in a state of peace - which is the perfect place from which to make business decisions.
I wonder how many times I've made decisions that were anxiety-driven and lived to regret it? More than I know, I'm sure. That's why it is important to me to learn how to crush anxiety. If I don't, I'm limiting my life and my business. Listen to this episode. It's straight from my own real-life experience a few mornings ago, when anxiety started rising in my heart. I had to apply some practical strategies to overcome it, and I did. I want you to know how to do it too.
Do you have habits that help you beat anxiety every day? Most of what we do in life is habit, things we've learned to do in order to cope with the situations that come at us. Amazingly, we are wired by God to figure out ways to deal with the things life brings, but sadly, we default to self-sufficiency instead of drawing our wisdom and strength from a higher place.
My life has been characterized by that kind of self-sufficiency, and anxiety has always been a problem as a result. But I'm learning how to let go of things in a way that draws on the power Jesus has freely made available to me. It's not religion. It's not spiritual sleight of hand. It's real and it's powerful.
Join me on this episode to hear what I'm learning. I'm confident there's something here for you.
Crush anxiety by implementing these basic habitsI'm learning that the ability to crush anxiety depends on the intentional choices I make about how I'm going to start and live each day. If I float into the day with no plan for how I'm going to deal with the inevitable stresses that will show up, I'm setting myself up for failure. So, I have chosen to think a certain way about anxiety and to do certain things that help me think that way.
Number one: I have made the decision that I will not leave my office each morning in a state of anxiety. I must deal with it before I engage with the world.
Number two: I start my day with a devotional, a reading that sets my mind on the things of God rather than on the fears and doubts and problems I face.
Number three: I ask Jesus to show me how to deal with anxiety with His power. This is important
Number four: I try to put my concerns into perspective, to compare them with the massive, life-threatening things others experience around the world. When I do this, I can turn my heart toward thankfulness instead of fear.
Listen to this episode, I share more strategies that will help you learn how to crush anxiety.
