There comes a point in every show’s history where it either sinks to the abyss of forgotten television, forever doomed to be an example of what could-have-been, but never was–or it climbs to heights even optimists couldn’t have predicted, steps on the edge of cultural iconography, and takes the leap, soaring to the heavens with wings unbound. Eyes Without Pity, Episode 6 of The Wheel of Time’s second season, clearly does the latter. By tackling sensitive subject matter with gravitas and respect, by reshuffling character arcs in ways that feel natural, this episode delivered a gut-punch ending that left us reeling–and we’re here to talk about it today on the Queers of Time.
