One of the Devil's favorite tricks is to convince us that God made certain promises which He didn't, and then get us to blame God when those promises appear to be broken. For example, many Christians believe falsely that their faith will keep them from suffering like other sinners. On the contrary, we may suffer for our sins, AND we may suffer for the sake of the Gospel. The latter is blessed while the former is simply that of the world.
