I saw the sun come up this morning. “What’s so surprising about that?” you ask. Nothing! But, while a sunrise is not surprising, it is encouraging. The prophet Jeremiah wrote, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him” (Lamentations 3:22-23).

Every day you see that big orange ball rise from the horizon, remember that it is another day to experience God’s compassion. Every new day is an opportunity to experience the mercy of a loving God who, through His providential care, watches over us.
