During quarantine I sat down with Morbidly Beautiful's Publicity Manager and SFX artist Nick Benson to discuss his work in the horror genre, Nightmare on Elm Street 4 (my favourite!), current projects, and of course, extreme cinema. Nick has an impressive resume of work with genre favourites like Society (1989), Night of the Demons (1988) and The Blob (1988), so it was an absolute treat to chat with him. Stay grim!

A first of its kind for Taboo Terrors! Once I watched the incredible documentary Beyond Horror: The History and Subculture of Red Films (2019), I just had to talk to the woman responsible for it. Jessie is a SFX artist, director, writer and not to mention the sweetest person you will ever meet. It was a pleasure to converse about her new production company 93/93 Pictures, our mutual love of extreme cinema and the backlash she has experienced for being a woman in the extreme horror genre. Stay grim!

This is the first minisode where Jess and Kelly have a friendly debate on movies that one thinks is overrated and the other loves. For Suspiria, Jess has ranked it in her top five horror films of all time, and Kelly doesn't think it's deserving of such high accolades. Where do you stand, listeners? In this episode, we tackle a new podcast formula -- we are pitting an original against its remake! To start off, we are looking at the Master of Body Horror himself, David Cronenberg’s 1977 Rabid, and comparing it to the 2019 remake done by the Twisted Twins, Jen and Sylvia Soska. It’s Canadian Horror at it’s finest! We welcome Joe Lipsett from the Horror Queers podcast for our guest spot this month.
