I Stand Strong!

For as long as I have been into comics there has been an arguement over which publisher is better, Marvel or DC? Of course I have my opinions, and I am going to give them to you?

In this episode I talk about my feelings on Hollywood remaking movies on a regular basis. Is it really a good thing that we constantly look to the past for ideas rather than come up with new ideas? I have thoughts of course.

In this episode I am covering a topic that is discussed frequently among me and my comic reading friends. What is a good entry into comics for someone who has never read one before? What book should they first read to understand the format better? I have a few ideas of my own for books that are great starting points as well as being just plain great stories.

Here are the books mentioned for anyone who would like to find any of the books mentioned in the episode.

Y: the Last Man by Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra

Strangers In Paradise by Terry Moore

Locke & Key by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez

Scalped by Jason Aaron and R.M. Guerra

Black Sad by Diaz Canales and Guarnido

Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O'Malley

Preacher by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon w/ covers by Glen Fabry

Stumptown by Greg Rucka and Matthew Southworth

Watchmen by Allen Moore and Dave Gibbons

In this episode I talk about the part video rental stores played in my childhood, and how I feel that there is a big loss in not having them anymore. And I discuss some of the other specialty stores could be headed for the same fate.
