  • 92 ITB 092 I almost got banned before I learned how to really use it
I have recently discovered a social platform that makes me completely crazy. Despite my annoyances, I can't stay off of Reddit. This is not exactly a user friendly platform and it is easy to get banned.

Here are three ways that I recommend bloggers use Reddit:

    1.Use Reddit for Research
2.Use Reddit to find a community
3.Answer questions on Reddit to become known in a field

  • ITB 091 A Process for Writing Your Next Blog Post
    iTunes Review Link: http://apple.co/1dgFZzE

Hi this is Renee' from I Teach Blogging, Renee' Groskreutz. In today's podcast I am going to share with a process to get a blog post done. The key factor here is to have a process and provide yourself with plenty of time. Blogging takes time, so be prepared for that up front. This process is how I tend to do it.

What should I blog about next?
I am a hard-core list keeper: I create mind maps, list in Evernote and only paper that I can reach when an idea strikes. When I am ready to pick my next blog post idea, I just go to these lists and pick one. Considering the fact that I am constantly worried about running out of ideas, this step is crucial to my success.

  • ITB 088 Stop worrying about your blog design and just launch
    Let's get down to it

When it comes to blogging, sure we heart beauty but not more than answers to our questions. Even if we are here to entertain we are answering a question.

It is so easy to get caught up in the tools and allow that to keep us from creating content. Perhaps this is a defense mechanism to keep us from that ever lurking fear of failure.

If you are freaking out or worrying about whether or not you have the right font, or the right design or the right keyboard, just launch your blog. If you have stopped writing on your blog for a while and are worried about starting again, just start again. If these things are stressing you out, know that it is ok.

Fear is normal. Use that fear to fuel your fire and get to blogging.

  • ITB 086 Punch a hole in the fear of writing
Over several days, I started to deflate, wondering what he thought. He said that he was ready to love it and the concept was marketable, but …in the end he said the writing was not good enough. “Too lyrical,” he said.

As some would say: “Whomp, whomp.”

So there it was. I was devastated. I didn’t really want to rewrite it to meet the needs of a market. It felt like the book wouldn’t be the same without my style of writing. I accepted the fact that writing was not my gift and I moved on.

Fast forward a few years, and I realized my LOVE for writing never really went away, but I became paralyzed by fear and self-doubt. Tightened prose, concise phrasing, telling a story were all things I learned were necessary, but didn’t know how to begin learning.

    What is Google Autocomplete?

As you type in the search box, you can find information quickly by seeing search predictions that might be similar to the search terms you're typing. For example, as you start to type new york, you might see other popular New York-related searches. Source~ https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/106230?hl=en

    Don’t Fish,
    and Share!

    Don’t cheat the system

For years, we’ve been told that other people linking to our blog is the best SEO trick that we can do, and using “link farms” was a way to lift rankings. The problem with this statement is the word “trick.” These rules caused bloggers to spend more time chasing links than providing real value for their readers. It’s tempting to look for shortcuts to blogging success, isn’t it?

There is no iron-clad shortcut, and the right answer is organic, trustworthy and sometimes slow and painful: Provide insightful and valuable content that answers readers’ questions.
