In the grand scheme of things, I spend very little time on a client's dating profile. Most folks are usually surprised to hear that, so I wanted to break down the what and the why in today's episode.

In this episode I'm covering:

• The only two things I work to ensure are included in a client's dating profile
• How your dating profile has little to nothing to do with your success in meeting someone — it's how you *operate* on said apps, along with how you carry yourself in the world
• How certain behavior (outside of dating, in our everyday life) amplifies our experience on the dating apps
• How much of our resistance to using dating apps has to do with our fear of owing our desires + insecurity around our lovability
• Simple actions we can engage in to both shift these limiting beliefs and disrupt dating patterns

While in more modern times we've coined the term 'situationship,' these types of relationships — ones where our desire something or someone to be something we know it never will — are nothing new. Modern culture would also advise us to "just drop" these individuals. Let them go.  Move on. It's that simple.

It's one of the things I value most about James and our relationship.

When my dear friend Katherine came to me a few months back and said "I did mushrooms and I need  to tell you what came up," it wasn’t the mushrooms that had me going; it was the way this modality fit within the larger frame of her work on herself.

So often I speak with folks about how tired they are — tired of reading all the books and doing all the therapy and trying all the things. They do and don’t want to keep working on themselves. It’s just….where is it getting them? Is it really making a difference? The relationship, the job, the body the person, still isn’t there. So what gives?

It’s so easy to hunger for a single solution (even if it's long term) to all our problems. But the journey is more like a six part play, with different acts and unexpected intermissions and many an understudy. Katherine and I break all this down in the episode. Even if you have zero interest in psychedelics — which is totally fine(!) — you’ll still benefit tremendously from understanding how the different puzzles pieces of healing fit together for your own evolution.

On a recent walk with my pups, I was marinating on the shared habits and characteristics of my clients who are now in long term relationships. It got me thinking about the inverse behavior — less of what people actually do and more of what people don't do that blocks them from growth and change. Not just in relationships, but in any area of their life.  In todays episode I'm digging into those four common pitfalls.

• Being obsessed with the how of dating (i.e. how to meet someone) versus looking closely at the nature of your dating life

I meet so many women —often in their later 30s— who say something along the lines of "I focused on my career, that's why I'm single." They're no stranger to hard work. They're the quintessential over achiever and they've been that way for as long as they can remember.

But is their "focus on work," really the reason they're still single? This isn't about pointing fingers or laying blame, this is about getting curious to the consistent pattern and narrative.

In this episode, I'm digging into the learned behaviors of overachievers and how that actually comes in direct conflict with meeting someone who is emotionally available and ready for a relationship.

• Identifies as an overachiever and also struggles to find the relationship they want
