"To be courageous, we must be willing to surrender our perfectionism, if only for a moment. If my self-worth is attached to being flawless why would I ever try to learn anything new? After all, learning requires mistakes." Vironika Tugaleva
We all admit to imperfection, we recognize it as an indivisible part of being human. But when faced with specific imperfections, or when our striving for excellence escorts us over the line into perfectionism we often find ourselves feeling unsettled. What some see as an admirable attribute, that of reaching beyond excellence is in fact paralyzing to many.
Listen to Liz Wyman share her experience of falling into a 'dark place' and how she traded in fear for love.
In this episode I mention a book called You Are Not A Rock. It was referred to me by a dear friend. I'm not a therapist and so am not recommending this book as treatment, but I'm finding it to be a good read. I also refer to Car Van Leuven (I mention her but not by name). I want to link my conversation with Cara because of her own process of reaching for excellence and finding joy and contentment. Here's a look at Cara's paintings.
