Of fox mulder and FBI -agent from the timeless tv show the x-files , where this character pursues his personal quest to unravel the mystery of his younger sister abduction from the family home when the were young kids by what appeared to be , aliens , while investigating various other strange unexplainable phenomena for a sub branch of FBI called the x-files ….   The tag line i want to believe was made popular by the character  and iconised by the poster up on the wall behind his office desk , of a grainy silver saucer shaped disk hovering above a tree line , taken by a witness as proof that ufos are real , the caption over laying the image reads as prev mentioned - i want to believe !!

The statement is an admission of bias , and of its desired confirmation , and it is also mulders mantra. It refers to Mulder’s yearning to believe in something bigger than himself—something that could explain all the inexplicable events that occur in life, one of the biggest of which is the question : are we alone in the universe, is their extra terrestrial life out there amongst the  stars , or closer still , right her with us on planet earth …
