AJ & Andy are both physical game collectors, with collections including; PS1, PS2, PS3, PSVita, Dreamcast, GameCube, Wii, 3DS, MegaDrive/Genesis & more, with preservation in mind. Both experienced forms of emulation over the years but never truly clicked with it, finding either the emulation itself wasn't overly stable or just a headache to get right, not to mention navigating the many grey areas of emulating itself.
However, 2023 may be the year that all changes. Anbernic sent over their RG353M, with dual boot Linux/Android, fully CNC'd metal chassis, hall effect sensing joystick modules, HDMI out and more. This little device has the power to emulate up to PS1 & Dreamcast games.
This reignited their hopes of emulating and sent them on a path of research and headaches to get it working, as it came blank without any bios files or instructions. After countless hours Andy cracked it and managed to get many systems and games playable.
So, has AJ & Andy's opinions changed on emulation? Is this now the best way to preserve gaming of the past? Let's find out.
