Do you feel like this world is getting darker and darker? I sure do. In fact, I see evidence of it all around. Skulls and crossbones on cars and clothing and even cake. Vulgar, profane, useless language fills the air…I guess taking over the space where cigarette smoke used to be. Wars break out on almost a daily basis. Violence seems to be the normal way to handle disagreements these days. You may feel you have no defense against it all. But is that true? I don’t think so. Not if you know God anyway. If you’re a Christian, God is your defense. There’s a book in the Bible, Psalms, where King David wrote, “I will sing of your power; Yes, I will sing of your mercy in the morning; for you have been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble.” Wow. Not merely singing…

…but singing out loud…first thing in the morning…in the face of trouble. And God said David was a man after His own heart. Does that make you want to start singing of God’s power? I hope so. Does it make you want to start singing out loud first thing in the morning? It makes me want to, but I’ll make sure I don’t wake others who may be sleeping later than me.
