In this episode of iCantCU, I share my experience completing JAWS training and the challenges I faced with distractions during the last day. I also discuss an interview with Ann Cunningham, an artist who taught art to blind individuals at the Colorado Center. Ann created the Sensational Blackboard device, allowing blind children to draw and feel their creations. I mention the upcoming convention in Houston and a convenient skyway between the central and spillover hotels. I plan to bring my computer to the convention and discuss the differences between a Windows machine and a Mac. I also talk about my recent work on a mail appeal for the National Federation of the Blind of Pennsylvania and the use of keyboard shortcuts.

iCantCU, I continue to share my JAWS training experience. I recount an incident during a practice civil service exam where I encountered difficulties due to inaccessible graphics that JAWS couldn't read. This raised my concerns about the accessibility of such exams for blind or visually impaired folks. I took a picture of the screen to seek assistance in interpreting the image. You can see the image on the show notes page. I express frustration about the potential barriers those who want to work in jobs requiring a civil service exam face. I also talk about downloading Reaper and a plugin for it called Osara. I give an update on the NFB of PA website development project. I really enjoy working on web design projects despite encountering occasional challenges.

In this episode of iCantCU, I talk about traveling to Harrisburg for a Business Enterprise Program meeting that was canceled at 9PM the night before it was due to be held. Hours after I arrived in the State Capital and checked into the hotel. I also mention my glaucoma doctor appointment, where the specialist couldn't determine my recent vision loss. I fear that things don't look good, pardon the pun. He said he didn't need to see me again for six months. I've been seeing him every three to four months for the last couple of years. Are You Or Do You know A Blind Boss?
If you or someone you know is crushing it in their field and is also blind, I want to hear from you! Call me at (646) 926-6350 and leave a message. Include your name and town, and tell me who the Blind Boss is and why I need to have them on an upcoming episode. You can also email the show at [email protected].
ntCU, I talk about traveling to State College for a Leadership Seminar by the NFB of PA. I explain how I had to scramble to find alternative modes of transportation when our Amtrak train was delayed for my group of seven. The final leg of our journey was handled by a one-legged Uber driver. I also tell you about my first visit to the Overbrook School for the Blind the day after returning from State College.

Overbrook School For The Blind
It is hard to believe that I hadn't ever been to the school, even though it is within 30 minutes of the places I have lived in Delaware County. Have a look at the school's website at https://www.obs.org/.
