He was a gardener who sold his business to become a journalist. Now he’s known nationwide for his groundbreaking and painstaking documentation of ICE and CBP raids in Los Angeles; the violence, the abductions, and the terror of Trump’s immigration armies. Memo Torres used to write about food. Now, each day with the help of his team at local Los Angeles outlet LA Taco, he writes about the out-of-shape police rejects with alimony payments known as ICE.

In this interview, Memo discusses how ICE is changing its tactics in the face of community resistance, and shuffled the deck of stooges from Kristi Noem to Markwayne Mullin. When it comes to a political response, Torres explains that despite personally meeting with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, little has been done to stop these militias in City Hall.  

They also talk about Stephen Miller’s origin story– was it a toxic Latina girlfriend?-- and why there are so many first-generation immigrants who themselves have joined the ranks of these white nationalist feds. Finally, what’s the end game with ICE’s surveillance and detention and how can we stop it?
