Our conversation explored the evolving landscape of the justice system, drawing on his unique perspective as a former federal prisoner and his past work across different jails and prisons nationwide. He shared his experiences assisting inmates, jail commanders, and other officials in achieving personal empowerment and driving systemic reform.

Our conversations started with personal accountability, and illustrated how the single actions of one person can ripple through the lives of others personally, in family lives, and transform the systems. They are indelibly interconnected. We discussed how the proof is in the pudding as they say, and we talk about touring the new Justice Center in Yavapai County AZ. We discussed how this facility has embraced, enlarged upon and then implemented the ideas that were originally sparked by Irene Morgan working with Don over 16 years ago related to new reentry, restorative justice, and direct services that focus on rehabilitation. The results are remarkable.

"Providing Hands-Up Support in Tiny Dome Villages."
Host Joy Gilfilen discusses how education, mentoring and building tiny dome homes in intentional communities is a vision of Maryam Sharifi, founder of the Global Enlightenment Academy. Standing up for justice has been a part of her life since growing up in Persia, in a culture where arranged teen marriages were common. Maryam started learning about self-value, building emotional strength in the face of adversity, and began studying peace, how to envision a new future, and studied business. She moved to the US, started building a new life, in a world she discovered had many injustices, and began designing new futures.
Today after learning how to thrive in the business world through determination and emotional resilience, she is determined to help provide affordable living and an opportunity for others who could benefit with a hand-up is her passion. She shares how it can be done so communities can see the opportunity to house and support those who have the passion to learn, grow and be independent as they gain a new lease on life!

Host Joy Gilfilen, interviews Irene Morgan, Founder of the Restorative CommUnity Coalition about what it's been like over the past 17 years doing the work with reentry services and the criminal legal system. Irene shares how the Coalition started out believing that the working with the people releasing from prison was the key to reducing recidivism, and then how the learning curve changed.

She started with the RestoreALife Center vision, and soon involved learning about court navigation, the court systems, the bond and insurance surety industry. The issues of mental health, caused the Coalition to learn about the politics of incarceration, and that led to revelations that the hidden business of the justice system was riddled with economic domination issues. The way the system works for the system" keeps people recycling through their system, costing taxpayers millions of dollars in taxes.

The bottomine, however, is that today our research shows that there are many solutions, many people throughout the community who are dedicated to making changes that will transform our communities for the better.

Miranda shares how she worked in Crestone, Colorado on multiple food sovereignty, and homelessness projects that have really made a huge difference in that community, and we discussed the history of how the peace flame was carried around the world and launched this global project.
