Welcome to Rob Booker's Ideas for Online Business Podcast, Ep. 2.
— What is the No. 1 (or No. 2) search engine in the whole world for an online business? Not Google. It’s Amazon. People search Amazon for something to buy. They’re searching to make “a purchasing decision.”
— We’re trying to add as much value to people at a price where people want to buy that product or service.
— Rob blew up as an online business when he started publishing for the Kindle.
— What if you published a new Kindle book in your area of expertise every 2 months for the next 24 months? You’d have 12 new books, 2,000 to 10,000 words each. You’d have legions of new customers who paid to download your book for the Kindle. And you’d be ranked in the world’s second-largest, but probably most important search engine for online business people.
— “Amazon’s important because when someone searches on Amazon, they’re looking to buy something.” A ranking on Google gives you people who are searching for free information. In some cases, they’re looking to buy, but on Amazon, you know for sure that they’re looking to buy.
— By getting on Amazon, you are automatically narrowing down your audience to the people who are interested in the topic that you know something about, and who want to buy something on that topic.
