  • How To Be Useful for the Master

We'd like to think every Christian has a desire to be used by God. It's certainly God's heart to spread the Good News to this world through you and I -- but there's some instructions we need to heed in order to fully prepare ourselves.

In this week's episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie talk about Paul's letters to Timothy, and specifically an analogy he uses to describe how we become "...vessels of honor, sanctified, and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work" (2 Timothy 2:21). Sandwiched right between several verses regarding how (and when) we talk to others, this illustration should not be taken lightly.

  • Why Are You Blessed?

In this week's episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie discuss this thought:

If a person has no knowledge of God's blessings, does that make it wrong for another, with knowledge, to enjoy the blessing? Of course not. The responsibility then lies in (1) sharing the blessing, and (2) sharing the knowledge.

There are many interesting factors here, but what is definitely true is that all of us walk in blessings according to the knowledge we have. Therefore, what may be a blessing to one, may not be to another.

    Great discussion!

  • Grace Without Effect

"Hey, I am what I am..."

Have you ever heard someone say that? (or maybe you've said it?) It's more of a common response than it should be when making excuses for personality or behavior. The Apostle Paul said the same thing, but he added some truth to his statement. "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect..." (1 Corinthians 15:10).

In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie talk about this very important understanding of grace. The Bible instructs us to not take the grace of God in vain, which means without effect or even in an improper manner. In most cases, taking grace for granted is not intentional but understanding how God intended grace to operate in our lives can be a huge help!

  • When Weary, Keep Standing
We've all experienced it... times when we are physically and mentally exhausted. It's called weariness and the Bible instructs not to become weary in well-doing. But spiritual weariness is different than simply being tired from a long day at work. In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie talk in-depth about what it means to be spiritually weary --what it looks like, what it feels like, and where it comes from. And whereas you might think the only way to win the battle of weariness is to fight back, the real answer is to stand. "Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:9). "...and having done all [the crisis requires], stand [firmly in your place]" (Ephesians 6:13). • Year Round Love

In typical February fashion, we chose to talk about LOVE in this episode of Identity Advantage. But the real question is, should this topic be isolated to one month or day each year?

    Of course not.

In this week's podcast, Daphne and Angie talk about the challenges of following the "love guidelines" in 1 Corinthians, chapter 13 and how as humans, it's pretty difficult, but WITH GOD, we can do what His Word requires.

Such a good reminder that LOVE is a year-round work of grace!

  • How To Completely Change Your Wardrobe
What you choose to wear typically fits your mood or your day (such as work, play, etc). So isn't it interesting that the Bible says LOVE is your all-purpose garment? In other words, it's important to first know God loves you. And secondly, that love should be something you choose to wear everyday. Our identity is often defined by our wardrobe (or we hide behind a certain persona that we want others to see us as). The same is true in a spiritual sense. In this week's episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie talk about the parallels between a natural wardrobe and the spiritual clothing God has custom-made for us--and how it defines who we are. "So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it" (Colossians 3:12-14, MSG). Click here to listen now in your browser.

  • Rejection, Part 2

Last week we talked about Rejection to Serenity. There seemed to be more to this topic because there are two sides of rejection -- the one hurt and the one doing the rejecting.

In this week's episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie look at rejection from the other side. Why do we reject others so quickly? Or a better question is, why do we guard ourselves from accepting others? There can be many reasons, but as Christians our responsibility is to reflect Christ, so the question remains.

P.T. Barnum (founder of Barnum & Bailey Circus) started his shows with people the world rejected as different. But his philosophy was this: "A human soul, 'that God has created and Christ died for,' is not to be trifled with. It may [be different]-- but it is still an immortal spirit."

  • From Rejection to Serenity

Pain can't be avoided. Oh how we wish it could be! But there is a path to peace and healing.

In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie talk transparently about disliking the pain of rejection and why it still hurts even if you know your identity in Christ. As mentioned in the podcast, here's the Prayer of Serenity:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

  • What Is Victory?

Isn't that a good question? What is victory? It almost depends on who you're asking, as to which answer you'll receive.

In this new year episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie talk about victory: what it means, how you get it, and maybe most importantly, what you learn when you get a revelation of victory.

"Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!" (1 Corinthians 15:57)
