Listen Later

Director Idit Cebula created a gem in "Rue Mandar." Her second feature, this film centers around a Jewish family from France who come together and fall apart over the death of their mother. The tragedy seems to both comedically and tragically highlight the dysfunction in the family unit while showcasing the deep love the brother, two sisters and extended family have for one another. Told in French with English subtitles and starring Emmanuelle Devos, Sandrine Kiberlain, Lionel Abelanski, Emmanuelle Bercot, this film will be shown at the Miami Jewish Film Festival Jan. 26 (http://miamijewishfilmfestival.com/mjff/).
Paris native Cebula was born  to Jewish parents from Poland. She started her feature film career as an actress in Krzysztof Kieslowski’s internationally acclaimed film Blue, the first chapter in his Three Colors Trilogy. She has done many other productions as an actress and directed films like "Deux Vies Plus Une" and the short "Varsovie-Paris." Her first film, "A Table!" won an award in Cannes in 1998.
