Forza Horizon 5 has launched to a stunning 92 score on OpenCritic, the highest score of the year so far. But why are people reluctant to discuss this is a genuine Game of the Year contender? When was the last time that a Racing Game won Game of the Year and is the shun of the genre valid?

Almost a million people have been playing Forza Horizon 5 this past weekend thanks to the paid Early Access options to players. It’s clearly a lucrative money-making opportunity that Microsoft have exploited. Is it truly “Early Access” or is access to the game actually behind a carefully constructed paywall? Give the success seen here, how do we feel about this being extended to other games under the house of Microsoft?
