Idolatry is not just a failure to obey God, it is setting your heart on something besides Him. it is deceiving yourself to think you can find something better than God Himself, and committing yourself to it. The majority of the passages in Scripture about idolatry were not written to unbelievers, but to people of God. Everyone is susceptible to this.
