This week, Pastor Kyle looks into Abraham’s discussion with God and what he was asking God for regarding the city of Sodom. Essentially, Abraham was praying (aka talking with God), but doing so face to face. Who was he praying for and why? What can we learn from Abraham’s interaction with God as well as God’s response to his requests?

Is it possible to be a Christian, but not a disciple? What does the Bible teach regarding discipleship? Is there really a “2-tier” system when it comes to following Jesus? Although not all his descendants followed after God, we do know of some that did – and had a significant impact on history. What can we learn from this and how can we apply it to our lives today?

As we continue with Pastor Kyle’s series on the life of Abraham and his walk of faith, we come to the place in the narrative where God gives Abraham a timeline of when his son (Isaac) will be born. An improbable thing for such an old couple, but yet God told him (over a decade prior) that he would have a son with Sarah, his wife. How does laughter and wonderment relate to this encounter? Today’s message addresses the topic of spiritual maturity. This tends to come by obedience to God’s word and the passage of time (aka patience). In our culture, patience tends to be in short supply, as does obedience to God’s word. Find out what it means when we hold on to “second best” in the context of spiritual maturity as opposed to what God has in mind for us.

As Pastor Kyle continues his discussion of Abram’s life and faith, we see Abram getting ahead of God. How does he actually get ahead of God? Can this happen with us as well? The short answer is “yes”; even in our modern culture. Listen to find out how this can happen and what we can do to mitigate the results/consequences of our “running ahead” of God.

How should Christians handle Halloween? This is a question often asked by believers at this time of year. Listen in as Pastor Kyle describes the origins of Halloween and looks at how Christians throughout history dealt with it as well. In addition, is there a way we can use this event to reach others for Christ?

Does God’s promise (covenant) with Abram still apply today? Many people, even Christians, do not believe so. If the covenant no longer applies (in that the Church has replaced the Jews – Abram’s descendants), what does that say about God’s keeping of the covenant? If the covenant still applies today, what part do the Jews play in it and how does it relate to the role of the church?

In today’s discussion on Abram’s journey of faith, we see that God makes a covenant with Abram. Whereas covenants at that time required both parties to agree to something (thereby binding both to the terms of the covenant), God does something different. He unilaterally makes the covenant and takes it upon Himself to pay the price if Abram doesn’t fulfill his part. At first this may sound confusing, but listen in as Pastor Kyle explains how this all plays out and what it means for us today.
