Our Jersey Judge for 2023 is welcomed as Mrs Kelli Cull, followed by an inspiring discussion with this years Power of Women in Dairying Scholarship recipient Penelope Welch. 

Rick Gladigau of Australian Dairy Farmers joins hosts Casey and Declan to dive deeper into current events happening in the dairy industry. Listen for Rick's take on the current milk price inflation, labour shortages impacting on farms, and what farmers can do to maximise their profit on farm.

 Brad Gavenlock of Agri-Gene joins to discuss all things history, productivity, and exciting developments happening within the company!

The leadup to International Dairy Week continues with Episode 10 of Around the Barn. 


First guest is Sarah Bolton from Dairy Australia. Sarah is the Project Leader-Animal Welfare and is one of the 5 panelists in the upcoming Beef on Dairy Seminar. This seminar will be held Wednesday the 19th of January at International Dairy Week. The panel includes Semex's Key Accounts Manager Jo Holloway, Dairy Australia Representative Sarah Bolton, MLA Project Manager Jessira Perovic, Calflink's Cameron Renshaw and Farm Manager from Holm Trading Leigh Coulton. This seminar will be hosted by Maxcare's Tom Newton next week from 1-3pm at the Ballantyne Centre.  

Second guest on Around the Barn is Colin Gilbert from Gilbert Guernseys. The Gilberts have recently had an extremely successful sale held in Rochester Victoria breaking the Australian record price for a Guernsey heifer and setting a new World Record for a Guernsey sale average.

Another great episode of Around the Barn as we lead into International Dairy Week thanks to Genetics Australia. 

Anthony Shelly, General Manager of Genetics Australia discusses the recent growth of Genetics Australia, Genetics and Herd Improvement, and the companies long term involvement with International Dairy Week. 

Finally, we connect with our new Holstein Judge for 2022 Mr. Murray Sowter.  

Around the Barn episode 8 has two special segments. 

Dann Brady from Blondin Sires QC Canada shares his knowledge and passion for marketing within the Agricultural industry, specifically dairy and how it has evolved over the years. 

Final guests Bel Quince, Agri Strategy Executive and Phin Ziebell, Associate Director Economic share their advice and insights on the current trends within Agriculture including a commodity based update on the dairy sector & current challenges farmers are facing. 

Firstly Casey is joined by enthusiastic tour guide from Belgium Karel Rutten who shares his travel stories with his Agricultural based company Bovigen Agritours. Karel talks about his history in the dairy industry and some of the most memorable travel moments at cattle shows. 

Second speaker is Dave Conheady from Ridley Australia who gives a great insight into a new Dairy-Blend that Ridley has created. Dave speaks on the product, its benefits, why it is unique and the future direction for the blend.

Lastly the final judge for 2022 is released at Mark Patullo of Walmar Ayrshires and Holsteins.

Second guest, Wayne Bradshaw from JEFO Australia explains JEFO's product range and benefits, company highlights, history and their involvement with IDW. Wayne also introduces the final podcast guest whose farm promotes and uses JEFO products in Quebec Canada. 

Last guest is Marc Comtois from Comestar Holsteins.  Comestar are known for being industry leaders in Canada having earned the #1 Most Influential Breeder in 2019.
