Before we get into this episode, I want to address that we will be dissecting the Miles Bridges incident. If you are unaware of this incident, it pertains to domestic violence and abuse. These topics may be triggering and it could be advised that you don't listen to all or parts of this episode, especially those that mention these topics.
Additionally, all information I state on this show about the incident does not reflect my opinions or beliefs about Miles Bridges. While I have supported Bridges, and still support his basketball abilities, I am incredibly disappointed in his recent actions. I, in no way, condone his actions; I am simply going to be breaking this down from the perspective of a Hornets fan. In the end, there is no excuse to be domestically violent to the point of causing another person harm.
That being said, we will be discussing the nuances of the Miles Bridges incident that we are aware of including what we know and when his court date will be. Miles Bridges is currently out on $130,000 bail. There were injuries sustained by the woman involved required medical treatment and an overnight stay in the hospital. Miles Bridges will appear in court on July 20th. Damning evidence has been released, including a video of Bridges' son talking about the incident. These details and more will be discussed, covering all the information that has been made public at the moment!
Beyond this Miles Bridges fiasco, the NBA has officially opened free agency! This is an extremely important time while we continue to shape our team. It leaves us with tons of questions. Who will we acquire? How are we going to shape our team? Are we going to be keeping the guys we have on free agency?
There have already been tons of trades and signings as soon as free agency opened up for the NBA. It has been an incredibly busy time and it's only been about a day at this point. It's going to be interesting to see how things continue to pan out as we head toward the beginning of the season. This is especially true given that the Hornets have made no moves in regard to free agency as of right now--the only team not to.
As fans, we gained a lot of insight from the recent press conference with Mitch Kupchak and Steve Clifford. Most of this information is a bit irrelevant now given the situation with Bridges. The Hornets have addressed that they know about the situation but have not commented further. If I'm honest, I doubt we will hear any new information at least until the preliminary hearing for Bridges--and that's at the earliest.
Switching gears a bit, the Panthers are prepping for training camp at the end of this month! With this, we are going to see some competition for multiple positions this season. What that will look like is still up in the air as we still have yet to see the level of skill these rookies have; however, we will get an idea of what that will look like during training camp and the preseason games, which starts in only 34 days.
