This week, I sit down with my friend and mentor Randy Hain to talk about his new book, A Different Take: Thoughtful Insights to Help You Thrive at Work and in Life — and why choosing a different path might be exactly what more of us need right now. In a world that rewards speed, noise, and keeping up, Randy challenges us to slow down, think deeply, and have the courage to go against the current. We talk about what it really means to lead well — not by doing more, but by focusing on what truly matters. From leadership and relationships to time, service, and personal growth, this conversation will challenge you to step back, rethink how you're showing up, and choose a better way forward — even if it looks different from everyone else.

If I Ever Live to Be… Disrupted is a conversation that feels especially close to home. My guest and I talk about what it's like to watch our industry shift in real time — with technology changing how work gets done, how value is delivered, and how people show up. Instead of running from the disruption, we talk about meeting it head-on by leaning into our specific value propositions. We get personal about what this moment means for our kids — how they communicate, how cell phones shape their relationships, and why intentional connection matters now more than ever. We also talk about reinvesting in ourselves so we can continue serving our clients well — not by becoming louder or faster, but by becoming better listeners, better guides, and better partners. This episode isn't about fighting the future. It's about choosing who you want to be inside of it.

We're kicking off the first episode of 2026, and it feels especially fitting to start the year with a conversation about purpose.
This week's episode features Robert Newbill, a 24-year Army veteran and West Point graduate, whose journey is marked by service, leadership, and intention. Robert opens up about transitioning out of the military and stepping into life as a business owner, navigating the challenges of identity and reinvention. We talk about the people who shaped him most — especially his grandfather, Charley, whose legacy deeply influenced the man he's become — as well as the role his wife and children play in grounding and motivating him.
Robert also shares how faith has guided his decisions and helped him find purpose beyond the uniform. This conversation is an honest look at life after service, the power of family, and what it means to lead with intention in every season.

In this episode, we meet, Paul Zanardo, Founder and CEO of the award-winning Zanardo Dezignz. Paul's success story almost never was. Once caught in a cycle of self-destructive behaviors, he found redemption in an encounter with Jesus that changed everything. Out of that transformation came purpose — and eventually, a thriving business helping others stand out online through web design, SEO, and creative storytelling. What was once chaos became calling. What was once broken became beautifully built. Now, he designs not just for clients, but for the Kingdom — living proof that when God steps in, even our detours can become divine design.

Mark Connor began boxing at the age of 10, had 102 amateur fights, made it to three national tournaments, and competed against some of the nation's top world-class boxers. He became the Upper Midwest Golden Gloves lightweight champion at 17 and traveled to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO, two days after graduating high school, competing in the 1987 trials for the Pan American Games. My conversation with Mark packs a punch as we cover topics from training (both mental and physical), faith, life and death, achieving balance, the responsibility of freedom and more. Mark is a kind soul and I know you'll end the show feeling as inspired and encouraged as I did.
