The Haiti Medical Mission of Wisconsin (HMMW) that began in 1997 to provide preventive and primary health care services and health education for Haitians is still going strong in one of the most remote corners of Haiti, the region around Thiotte.
Gil Halsted and Amitabh Pal talked to Carole Wakefield, the Executive Director of HMMW, about how the organization built and started the clinic to provide basic care and eventually supplied specialized medical services, medicine and equipment for almost 30 years.
